The Black Friday deals period is well and truly underway, and we’ve come across a couple of enticing Black Friday TV deals on one of our favourite OLEDs, the LG C2.
First off, Amazon is offering the LG C2 48in for £899, its lowest-ever price and an easy option for those of you who aren’t interested in claiming vouchers or choosing larger screen sizes.
Meanwhile, Box is offering e-vouchers worth up to £250 on certain sizes of the LG C2 and is currently offering the 48in model for £999. Those vouchers may clinch the deal for some bargain hunters.
More specifically, Box is giving away online e-vouchers with five or the six screen sizes. Before we break down the deals available across each model, it’s worth pointing out that there are a few terms and conditions about its e-voucher offer to be aware of.
Only customers who buy the TV between now and 29 November are eligible and must use their purchase receipt to redeem their voucher between 9 December and 30 December. Your voucher card will then be emailed to you, but sadly you won’t receive the voucher before Christmas, as they’ll only start being sent out via email once the redemption period is over.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s look at what you can expect to receive if you do decide to bite the bullet and pick up the LG C2 from Box ahead of Black Friday…
The 42in model is the only model that doesn’t come with an e-voucher. It’s available for just £859 – the cheapest it’s been since launching at £1,399 – and instead comes with the chance to instantly win prizes including the LG Eclair soundbar, LG Tone Free UPF9 earbuds, Xbox consoles, and signed England football shirts.
If you’re looking for something even larger, the 65in version, which received our Best Buy award when we reviewed it at £2,499, is at an all-time low price of £1,699 and the first size option to come with a £200 e-voucher. Assuming you plan on spending £200 on Box products in the near future, you’re effectively getting the TV for just £1,499.
The 77in model also comes with a £200 voucher, but you’re actually better off buying it from Argos, as it’s only £1 more expensive at £3,000 and comes with a more generous £250 Argos e-gift card. Meanwhile, Box has the joint-lowest price on the 83in variant (was £4,999, now £4,699), and it comes with a £250 voucher.
The LG C2 is not a cheap option no matter which screen size you decide on, but there’s no disputing its quality. It’s powered by LG’s latest Alpha9 Gen5 processor and runs the most recent iteration of the South Korean company’s excellent operating system, webOS 22.
The set itself is packed full of picture and sound enhancement technologies, including AI Picture Pro and AI Sound Pro, while the 55in model and above take advantage of Brightness Booster technology to hit higher levels of luminance compared with last year’s model, the LG C1.
The result is stunningly accurate SDR and HDR image quality, and this is complemented by support for a comprehensive range of streaming services and next-gen gaming features. At full price, it’s a great TV; with a hefty discount, it’s an OLED bargain that shouldn’t be missed.
Dolby Atmos audio, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are all present and correct, too, making the LG C2 a formidable OLED all-rounder. It was a close second to the Samsung S95B QD-OLED in the TV category at our Product of the Year Awards: Technology last month, but does have the advantage of coming in a wider range of sizes.
