As the new Amazon facility in Kinston steers closer to an opening date, the global retailer needs employees to fill their open positions.
Last year, a 77,160 square foot Kinston warehouse was purchased as a new Amazon facility for an estimated $1.7 million. It is not known when the refurbished facility at 1302 Enterprise Blvd. will be fully operational, but the online retailer is having a job fair on Mar. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kinston.
The fair will be hosted by Lenoir County Community College and NCWorks Career Center at 231 Highway 58S in Kinston located in the Bullock Building, according to Lenoir County NCWorks.

The company began hiring last year when several jobs were posted as confirmation Amazon was to be placed in Kinston. Competitive pay starts at $15 to $19 an hour and health care benefits, tuition support options and career advancement opportunities are also available, said Samara Taft, NCWorks Career Center manager.
“The NCWorks Career Center will be providing an opportunity for job seekers to meet with members of Amazon’s recruiting team,” Taft said. “NCWorks Career Center staff and Amazon staff will be available to assist with applying for positions available on Amazon’s website as well.”
She said the career center staff will also be available to assist job seekers with other employment opportunities as well.
Current job listings from management to mentoring positions are on road delivery operations, IT support engineer, operations manager, assistant manager, team member, warehouse shopper and several more options.
Amazon settled on the Kinston location after they made interest in a “Last Mile” warehouse and facility that sat on 10-acres to fit their needs, according to a previous report. This warehouse is to function as the last step in delivering a product from the facility to the customer’s doorstep.
The opportunity of bringing the No. 1 global retailer to Lenoir County comes after MasterBrand Cabinets, a national cabinet manufacturer, announced their plans of a $13.5 million expansion on Kinston facilities.
The company promises to add more than 450 jobs to Lenoir County within the next five years, with a total payroll regional impact of $18.5 million.
